Our senior of the month is Ms. Pamela Diaz who has a cumulative grade point average 4.0 with all Honors and AP classes. She is ranked 20th out of 500 other seniors. Pamela has taken advantage of every opportunity offered here at East Side. For the past four years, she had been part of a college bound nonprofit program called NJLEEP, (New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project), where she participates in debates, and mock trials in front of real judges, and participates in internships at Law Firms.
She is also part of a program called 9 Miles, where she participates in discussions and debates about real world problems that teens deal with today. Her 9 Miles meeting is a safe place where students from Newark and students from a Jewish congregation come together to talk about how alike and different they are from one another, yet how that can still face the same real world problems while living only 9 miles apart.
Currently, she is the secretary of the National Honor Society, where she organizes meetings and organizes fundraisers. She is part of the executive board of the Student Council. And recently she has been accepted to Rutgers University in New Brunswick and Seton Hall University in South Orange. One day, Pamela would love to become an attorney.
So, congratulations to Ms. Pamela Diaz for being selected our Senior of the Month.
