Our student of the month is Natalie Fernandez, a junior. Natalie was born in the U.S but went back to the Dominican Republic until she was 5 years old. She returned to the U.S and attended Hawkins Street School, where she graduated as Valedictorian of her 8th grade class.Once at East Side, she dedicated herself to Honors classes since Freshman year and now as a Junior she is taking mostly AP classes.
Natalie has managed to stay in the number one spot in her Junior class ranking and is very well on the path to graduate as Valedictorian or Salutatorian for 2019. Natalie is also involved in many extracurricular activities such as Student Council, the Student Leader in Model UN, and the Head of Advertising/last year’s Secondary Driver in East Side’s Robotics Team. She encourages everyone to join the other clubs she participates in, such as: Public Speaking, Anatomy Club and Chess Club.
For the future, Natalie is interested in the STEM field and Medicine practices. Just last summer she volunteered at a rural clinic for a total of 18 hours during her vacation time in DR. She hopes to strive for more extracurricular activities and humanitarian causes in the near future. Natalie is a free spirit who is well respected by her peers not only for her success in the classroom but for her humanity. She is always there to help out and lead in giving back to her community. So, congratulations to Natalie Fernandez for being selected as our Student of the Month.
