Our senior of the month is Mr. Denzel Small, Jr He was born in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and grew up in Newark, New Jersey, he is half Jamaican and half Trinidadian. Denzel is in all Honors and AP classes with a current grade point average a 3.76. He is currently a member of The Student Council, Pan-African American club, Pathways to College and the Music Club. He also plays varsity basketball and golf. His favorite basketball player is Kevin Durant, and a quote that stays with him is one from John Lennon. The quote is: “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life”
In the future, Denzel wants to become a professional basketball player and if basketball doesn’t work out, he wants to become a biomedical engineer. The colleges he is looking into are Columbia University, Stony Brook and the University of Pennsylvania. Congratulations to our senior of the month, Denzel Small, Jr.
