Vocal/General Music
Room 108
Students at First Avenue Elementary School have music once a week. A wide variety of classroom activities including singing, moving, instrument playing and technology are utilized.
Sequenced instruction in the elements and skill of vocal production are then transferred to music reading and playing. The understanding of music history and cultural connections are also explored. Students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades apply their skills in playing handbells and chimes.
In the 5th and 7th grades students have an opportunity to choose vocal music as an elective which meets three times a week. Students in grades 6th, 7th and 8th may also choose to participate in chorus. The goal of chorus is to help students develop their vocal instrument and prepare those who may be interested in auditioning for Arts High School.
