Dear STEAM Parents/Guardians,
All of us have emerged from the frenzy of the holiday season with hesitant steps, wondering if the frigid temperatures and accumulation of snow is likely to stop. I have yet to run into many winter enthusiasts. Most of us have grown weary of wrapping a scarf around our neck, remembering to bring gloves, scraping the windshield, and warming up the car. We have made it through two quarters of the school year with much success! We continue to meet our school improvement goals of increasing academic achievement, closing the achievement gaps, and reducing the number of discipline related concerns. Parental involvement is one key factor in meeting our goals. Therefore, your support is greatly appreciated. Please continue to assist your child by being active in his/her education. Please take the time to assist your child with his/her homework, tests, and overall study habits and continue to monitor his/her progress regularly. Together we will make Barringer STEAM the best high school in Newark! We already have the greatest parents and teachers!
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s education, please contact the school for support. Please follow the appropriate protocol by contacting your child’s teacher and guidance counselors first. Our teachers and guidance counselors are effective leaders and can address many of your concerns. If your concerns cannot be resolved with teacher support and guidance, please contact one of the vice principals. Starting with the teachers and guidance allows the administrative staff to provide instructional leadership in classrooms daily.
