Hello BRICK Peshine Family!
My name is Steve Sandor and I am excited to be here at BRICK Peshine in my second year as the Vice Principal of Instruction for grades Pre-K to 1st grade. I am looking forward to working with all of you as we continue bringing excellence to the students of Newark. As an assistant principal, I will be drawing upon my all my experiences as a teacher, instructional leader and parent to best serve all the members of the BRICK Peshine family.
During my seventeen years in education I have served in many roles. In my first year of teaching I went oversees to teach English as a Foreign Language to kindergarten students in Taiwan. It was there that I first discovered my passion for teaching and working with students. It also sparked my interest in doing work that supported families and developing communities – interests that led me to build houses in West Africa and visit youth organizations in East Africa through various charities. When I returned to the United States I began to work on my alternate route certification and found a position at a Catholic school in West Orange teaching 7th and 8th grade. Once I received my full teacher’s certification I was hired as an elementary school teacher in Franklin, NJ. In my 11 years there, I had a chance to work with every grade level in the school from kindergarten to 8th grade and had a role in developing curriculum, creating a school STEAM program and directing several of the middle school musicals.
As I enter my third year as an administrator my main goal is to support you in creating the best open, student-centered learning environment for the members of our school. More importantly, I am here to listen, keep an open mind and provide any assistance that I can. As a parent, I am always conscious of putting myself in the shoes of the teacher, parent and student and promise to hold our school to the same expectations I would want for my own two girls. If you ever have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or come by anytime to speak to me in person. I am looking forward to another great year. Let’s Go BRICK Peshine!
