Dear Families and BRICK Dreamers,
Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! My name is Sabrina Meah and I am honored to continue my journey at BRICK Peshine Academy as the Chief Innovation Officer of Instruction. As a Newark educator since 1998, I started my career as a 5/6th grade teacher and then as an 8th grade math teacher for 10 years as I moved into the role of Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction at a Newark middle school. I earned my BA from Barnard College, Columbia University and my Masters in School Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
My vision for BRICK Peshine Academy is focused on ongoing improvements in three essential areas: curriculum/instruction, school culture, and communication. Here at BRICK Peshine Academy, we value commitment from the entire community. This means from the staff, scholars, administration, parents and families. Only by working together can we begin to prepare our scholars for the road that lies ahead of them.
This upcoming year is full of many exciting plans to both engage and challenge our scholars. Our ultimate mission is to ensure that our scholars are lifetime learners, college ready and productive citizens of this country. To meet this goal, I ask that we support each other as we strive for the best for our BRICK Dreamers. This starts from ensuring our children are present and on time, ready to learn with an open mind. We must demand that our scholars develop strong habits around learning. These habits must be coupled with developing scholars who exemplify our school values of DILIGENCE, RESPECT, EMPATHY, A+ SELF-CONTROL, and being a MODEL STUDENT.
In order to achieve this success, it is important that we develop a positive working relationship with open lines of communication. I personally welcome introductory phone calls at (973) 705-3305 or e-mails (firstname.lastname@example.org). I look forward to meeting with many if not all of you in this school year.
