Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members,
My name is Andrew Coban, and it is my honor to be serving as the newly appointed vice principal of instruction for K-4 math and science at BRICK Peshine Academy.
In previous years as an educator, I have served as data coach, teacher leader, and elementary school teacher in both the Orange and Newark Public School Districts. Some of my past accomplishments include helping teachers collect, analyze, and use data to drive classroom instruction and decision-making, facilitating professional development around educational technology, and leading the school-wide implementation of a behavioral intervention framework called Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS).
In collaboration with the skillful staff and administration at Peshine Academy, I will work incredibly hard to ensure our children are receiving a top-notch education by being present in classrooms, supporting teachers in implementing “best practice” strategies, and ensuring instruction is targeted toward children’s learning needs. I strongly believe in transparency and two-way communication between myself and those whom I serve—ever-striving to determine “what works best” for the children of the South Ward. That said, please feel free to stop by my office or contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, suggestions, and/or concerns.
I earned my B.A. and M.A. from Rutgers University, and completed my Ed.M. in Education Leadership at the Teachers College of Columbia University. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books (all kinds), talking superheroes, and spending time with my wife, Therese, and our son, John.
I am proud to be serving in Newark once again, and look forward to meeting many of you soon.
