Honors Academy
The Barringer’s Honors Academy, reestablished in 2015, is a four-year program for selected academically gifted, college bound students. The essence of the academy is to provide an enriched, challenging, college preparatory program that emphasizes humanities, mathematics and science. Students in the academy are required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average in a rigorous academic program that includes honors, advanced placement and college level courses. They are also required to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and community service programs.
Candidates will be selected based on academic subject grades, middle school record, attendance, standardized test scores, and at times, counselor and teacher recommendation. A student must demonstrate above average standing in these areas to be considered
