English Language Arts

Overview

The English Department services students during their entire 4 (9-12) or 6 (7-12) years at Arts High School, providing them with a rigorous program in literary response and analysis, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, written conventions and writing strategies. Using the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Collections series and a host of other high-interest, rigorous texts the English Department strives to ensure access to high quality curriculum and instruction for all students in order to meet or exceed the demands of both the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the Common Core State Standards.
